This page covers additional information on Court Reports as well as exclusions that apply. Pre-sentence reports can be done via online interviews, but there is a strong preference for in-person assessments for fitness to stand trial reports.

Fitness to Stand Trial
Assessment for Fitness to Stand Trial are limited to the Otago Region (due to possibility of being called as an expert witness) and are considered when related to:

Psychosis
-
Mania
-
Intellectual disability
-
Traumatic Brain Injury
Exclusions: Foetal Alcohol Syndrom, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder

Pre-Sentence Reports
Tian's area of expertise is Mental Health. Pre-sentence reports which pertain to the interaction between the clients offending behaviour and their mental health and/or the persons risk profile as it relates to their mental health, are the areas of focus for these reports.

S38 (Insanity) Reports
Reports querying the clients culpability within the context of a mental disorder are not being assessed at this time

Other Needs
Tian is focused on providing The Courts with reports which are grounded in evidence and offer independent expert opinion. Should you have reporting needs which are not directly related to Section 38 CP (MIP), these may be discussed on a case-by-case basis and considered when they fall within the bounds of Tian's areas of expertise.
