Tian Esterhuizen is a registered Clinical Psychologist based in Dunedin, New Zealand. Tian completed his clinical training at The University of South Africa and has worked in a variety of settings. He has spent most of his career working in Forensic Inpatient Hospitals and Corrections. He has a special interest in the nexus between mental health and the law and is passionate about the adequate and timely assessment of individuals experiencing mental health challenges within the criminal justice system.

 

Therapeutically he enjoys assisting individuals to identify and develop their unique strengths, enabling them to achieve growth within the context of career, sport and life. He comes from a diverse occupational background which includes personal training, athletics and rugby coaching, pharmaceutical sales, as well as nutritional consulting (sports supplements).

Tian works with adults and older adults across a range of challenges which individuals encounter throughout their lifespan. He uses evidence based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Strategic Therapy, and Solutions Focussed Therapy.
